An innovative and exciting race packed with community spirit, brings competition to the heart of innovators.
The Red Bull Soap Box Race is designed for innovators and just general enjoyment! Teams from all over the world collaborate to design and make their very own soapbox vehicle, which is then used to race against all the other competing teams.
Each hand made vehicle is fuelled by teamwork, the force of gravity and a little bit of Red Bull. All teams compete against a clock going downhill and are judged by the level of creativity, speed and showmanship. In fact this event encourages showmanship and creativity. Just think Wacky races but even wackier!
Recent entrants have used baby carriages, fire engines and pianos as inspiration for their vehicles. Famous formula 1 drivers have also entered, competed and been a part of the day, including current World Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel. It’s not just about winning but having a great time winning.
An incredible experience for our team, especially since they all love a bit of Whacky races! With the race being held in Alexandra Palace London this year our trip was not at all far. The team set-up Avid equipment and maintained on site for the day, offering brilliant support to the production team. Eventually the equipment was transported back, but not in a wacky racing car, although it would have been great if it had been. A relatively small project, but one of the most enjoyable projects to work on.Kit List:
